What could I ask of you today,
to take the hate and fear away?
To feel the sunlight even through the clouds,
to feel the wisdom of the wind and fog.
To see your own beauty, dear bewildered soul,
to see in the mirror your heart of gold.
To hear the voice of love whispering in that heart,
to hear its waiting words through your lips depart.
To love even when your thoughts bring tears,
to love even when you want to turn in fear.
To believe that each new day is a poet’s gift,
to believe your self-worth is there in its gentle kiss.
To know that love is truly all there is,
and . . . to truly know . . . that what I say it is?
It is.
