Therese Gramercy . . . the girl named Trees

Safe Harbor

Safe Harbor

Stormy seas in windswept complicated times,
where is the love I thought I would find?
I walked away from your love knowing full well
that my actions would fling your heart right into hell.

The vast ocean called me to embrace its mysterious lore,
I slipped out of the harbor and off toward new shores
not knowing that calm seas were just an interlude between
mammoth waves, lighting storms, rudderless drifting, broken dreams.

The journeys were tantalizing, unnerving, then centering
as I realized the full import of sheltering affairs of the heart
and I learned that there is simply no more glorious passage
than that of you swaying with me ever gently in home port.
